Now Recruiting: WiLD Weight Loss for People with Learning Disability

Sheffield VoicesDr Liz Croot and Melanie Rimmer from ScHARR have been carrying out qualitative research with groups of people with learning disabilities, to find out how to help them to access commercial weight management groups like Slimming World if they want to (see a previous blog post about the project). As part of the project, Slimming World has worked together with ScHARR to produce a prototype Easy Read booklet for members with learning disabilities and a guide for the carers supporting them.

ScHARR are now recruiting people with learning disabilities and their carers to test the changes to see how they work in practice when following the Slimming World programme. If you have a learning disability, live in Sheffield and would like to lose 7 pounds or more you might be eligible to take part.
